Atera Launches IT Autopilot, Agentic AI for Tier 1 Tickets

Atera, an all-in-one IT management platform with built-in AI agents, launched IT Autopilot. Building on Atera’s AI Copilot, IT Autopilot eliminates the need for human oversight in resolving Tier 1 IT tickets such as password resets, reboots, and other repetitive tasks, according to the company.

“IT professionals are some of the most crucial, yet overburdened people in modern organizations,” said Gil Pekelman, co-founder and CEO of Atera, in a press statement. “With IT Autopilot, we’re not just automating tasks, we’re giving technicians their time, focus, and work-life balance back. It’s the beginning of a new era in IT: One where autonomous agents will become the essential support system IT technicians need to thrive.”

Atera’s IT Autopilot communicates with end users autonomously and resolves issues within a secure, closed-loop system—ensuring privacy, compliance, and strict adherence to organizational guardrails, according to the company. When needed, it intelligently escalates issues that fall outside of its scope or require approval.

Cynet Announces Redesigned CyAI

Cynet, provider of the All-in-One Cybersecurity Platform, announced a major update to CyAI, its proprietary AI engine that powers advanced threat detection across the Cynet platform.

The newly reengineered AI core delivers greater precision and broader threat coverage, giving Cynet partners and customers even greater confidence in their defenses, according to the company.

“Supercharged CyAI is already catching new malicious executables in active incidents,” said Timea Kovacs, head of data science at Cynet, who led the redesign, in a press statement. “These are threats no other antivirus mechanism had flagged, and CyAI spotted them first in the wild. We also built a Deep Analysis cloud feedback loop to facilitate rapid model improvement, ensuring CyAI continuously optimizes over time.”

“Partner success is our obsession, and AI-enabled detection is a must-have capability for channel players in today’s market,” says Cynet CEO Jason Magee, the former CEO of ConnectWise. “With CyAI, Cynet continues to deliver on that demand by combining feedback from our partners, threat intelligence from our analysts, and genuinely innovative ML infrastructure by our engineers. I’m proud of our team for making the All-in-One Cybersecurity Platform stronger and delivering new advantages to Cynet partners and customers around the world.”

JumpCloud Acquires VaultOne

JumpCloud acquired privileged access management (PAM) vendor VaultOne as part of its goal to simplify IT operations across a secure access control platform. VaultOne’s solutions provide secure access into a wide range of critical assets, from SaaS applications to cloud infrastructure and databases. In addition, VaultOne’s architecture allows access into crucial resources without the need for a traditional VPN.

“We are continuously evaluating our customers’ needs to extend JumpCloud into more areas where we can provide secure, frictionless access to resources, regardless of where the team or resources are located,” said Greg Keller, chief technology officer and co-founder of JumpCloud, in a press statement. “The acquisition of VaultOne brings a deeply experienced team and established PAM technology into the JumpCloud family. This allows us to immediately offer a dedicated PAM solution with the granular control necessary to navigate today’s complex security landscape, while providing more critical access control capabilities our customers can consolidate and depend upon from JumpCloud’s platform.”

JumpCloud says Current VaultOne customers will keep their service without interruption.

The companies did not disclose the details of the transaction.

Mergers & Acquisitions – MSPs

Netrio Acquires Agio

Netrio has acquired Agio, a New York City-based managed IT and cybersecurity provider specializing in the financial services sector. This strategic acquisition expands Netrio’s expertise and resources in cybersecurity and the financial services industry, while also extending its presence in the Northeast.

In 2024, Netrio joined forces with SUCCESS Computer Consulting and PCA Technology Group, forming a single entity with locations in Minnesota, New York, and Texas.

Agio CEO Bart McDonough founded the company in 2009. With the acquisition, Netrio will be able to leverage AgioNow, the company’s proprietary Gen AI-powered IT delivery platform, which will enhance Netrio’s national customer support capabilities and end user experience.

“The addition of Agio represents an important next step in our goal to transform how small and mid-market enterprises leverage technology and enable their businesses,” said Mark Clayman, CEO of Netrio, in a press statement. “Agio’s deep expertise in financial services and advanced cybersecurity capabilities complement our existing services. Together, we’ll deliver comprehensive solutions that drive innovation, efficiency, and growth for our customers, while reducing cost and risk.”

“From the start, our focus has been twofold … provide unparalleled protection to our customers as a managed IT and cybersecurity provider and develop a market-leading delivery platform leveraging AI to offer a unique end-user experience,” said McDonough, in a press statement. “Joining Netrio will allow us to continue that vision on an even larger scale.”

Piper Sandler served as financial advisor to Agio. The two MSPs did not disclose the terms of the deal.

ESET Takes Part in Infostealer Takedown

ESET this week ESET joined the FBI, Department of Justice, US Department of Defense’s Defense Criminal Investigative Service, Europol, and other private companies to disrupt Danabot, a notorious infostealer.

Other vendors involved in the effort include Amazon, CrowdStrike, Flashpoint, Google, Intel471, PayPal, Proofpoint, Team Cymru, and Zscaler.

The authors of Danabot operate as a single group, offering their tool for rental to potential affiliates, who subsequently employ it for their malicious purposes by establishing and managing their own botnets.

ESET Research, which has been tracking Danabot since 2018, contributed assistance that included providing technical analysis of the malware and its backend infrastructure, as well as identifying Danabot’s C&C servers. During that period, ESET analyzed various Danabot campaigns all over the world, with Poland, Italy, Spain and Turkey historically being one of the most targeted countries. The joint takedown effort also led to the identification of individuals responsible for Danabot development, sales, administration, and more.

“Since Danabot has been largely disrupted, we are using this opportunity to share our insights into the workings of this malware-as-a-service operation, covering the features used in the latest versions of the malware, the authors’ business model, and an overview of the toolset offered to affiliates. Apart from exfiltrating sensitive data, we have observed that Danabot is also used to deliver further malware, which can include ransomware, to an already compromised system,” said ESET researcher Tomáš Procházka, who investigated Danabot, in a press statement.

“It remains to be seen whether Danabot can recover from the takedown. The blow will, however, surely be felt, since law enforcement managed to unmask several individuals involved in the malware’s operations,” wrote Procházka.
